Learn moreLake Buena Vista is a small city inside the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, which oversees surface water control and drainage across 39 square miles of Orange and Osceola counties. It began in 1967 as the City of Reedy Creek.
The district began as the Reedy Creek Drainage District in 1966. Reedy Creek itself starts west of Bay Lake, crosses I-4 and empties into Lake Russell, then Cypress Lake and the Kissimmee Chain. The district has its own rules, so check with your community or the district before changing the outside of a home.
Golden Oak, a Disney residential community planned for about 450 homes of roughly 3,000 to 7,000 square feet, shows the scale of building here. Large, multi-level roofs send a lot of water to a few spots, so downspout planning matters. Half-round and copper gutters suit the style.
Lake Buena Vista gets about 52 inches of rain a year, with June through August averaging 7.5 to 7.9 inches a month. Orlando recorded 86 mph gusts in Milton, and Irma and Ian brought 79 and 74 mph. Gutters must be fastened well and sized for the rain this area gets.
Besides Lake Buena Vista, we work throughout Orange County, including Windermere, Horizon West, Williamsburg. See all service areas.
