Learn moreWinter Park is built around a chain of lakes joined by canals: Sue, Virginia, Osceola and Maitland, with Genius, Fern and Venetian canals linking them. The canals were first built partly for flood control, and many homes in Olde Winter Park are more than 100 years old.
Winter Park's brick streets are lined with live oaks and camphor trees. During Hurricane Charley in 2004, the city's old, large oaks had not seen high winds before, and falling trees took down utility poles and cars. Heavy canopy fills gutters with leaves, so guards are worth a look, and old fascia boards should be checked before any new gutters go on.
Winter Park's chain of lakes is linked by canals, and the city monitors lake levels and shares storm preparation updates when water rises. In 2014 the 100-year floodplain for the Chain of Lakes was revised through six map revisions, so check your address if you live near the water.
Winter Park charges a stormwater utility fee. The city tells residents to keep the curb and gutter in front of the home clear and not to blow debris into storm drains. Your roof gutters are the first step in keeping leaves out of that system.
Besides Winter Park, we work throughout Orange County, including Maitland, Orlando, Apopka. See all service areas.
