Learn moreBelle Isle is a city of about 7,000 people where more than half the area is water. Lake Conway, 1,771 acres and 23 feet deep on average, is in the city, along with the southern part of Little Lake Conway.
About 54 percent of Belle Isle is water, so most lots are close to a shoreline. Roof and street runoff reach the lake quickly. A clean gutter system keeps leaves and debris on the roof and out of Lake Conway, which sits in the Boggy Creek watershed.
Before Hurricane Ian in 2022, Orange County lowered lake levels. After the storm, it issued a lake advisory for all lakes and rivers from September 30 to October 21, and some boat ramps stayed closed until mid-November because of high water. Lake Conway has its own Water and Navigation Control District run with the county.
Belle Isle's Public Works handles stormwater and the city publishes lake levels on its website. Check there if you are unsure where roof water from your lot should go, and we can plan downspouts that take it away from the house.
Besides Belle Isle, we work throughout Orange County, including Doctor Phillips, Lake Nona, Orlando. See all service areas.
