Learn moreCocoa has Cocoa Village on the Indian River, older neighborhoods nearby and newer areas inland. Since 2019 the city bills stormwater as an annual assessment on the property tax bill.
In an older part of Cocoa, the wood fascia behind a gutter may have been wet for years. We check those boards before new gutters go up, because a gutter screwed into soft wood will not hold.
Cocoa moved on October 1, 2019 from a monthly charge on the water bill to an annual assessment on the property tax bill. Single-family rates are set by tiers of impervious area, meaning hard surfaces. The city's stormwater map shows your measured area and how to appeal, and it has a credit policy for added stormwater management. A gutter on its own does not change the measurement. See the city's stormwater assessment page.
The city's Stormwater Division maintains ditches, swales, pipes and inlets, and cleans inlets to keep leaves from blocking them. When you clean gutters, bag the debris. Do not blow or sweep it into the street, a swale or an inlet.
Besides Cocoa, we work throughout Brevard County, including Merritt Island, Suntree, Titusville. See all service areas.
