Learn moreMelbourne Beach is a small barrier island town that calls itself the oldest beach community in Brevard County. It runs a free swale program for residents.
Older homes are more likely to have original wood fascia and eaves, with salt air and years of rain on them. We check those boards first and tell you whether they can stay.
Hurricane Nicole in 2022 eroded the beach, and the county classified more than half a dozen homes and buildings in the Melbourne Beach and Satellite Beach areas as unsafe. Gutters do nothing for a dune or seawall. They can move roof water to a spot you choose instead of letting it dig at the soil beside the foundation.
The town digs swales at the street edge for residents who request one, at no charge, to hold stormwater and ease street flooding. The town asks owners not to pave or park in them and to keep leaves and debris out. Check with Public Works before pointing a downspout toward the right-of-way. See the town's swale page.
Besides Melbourne Beach, we work throughout Brevard County, including Indialantic, Satellite Beach, Palm Shores. See all service areas.
